History & Background:
Prior to the inception of the Jetaban Bihar London in 2023, there was no Buddhist Bihar for the Bangladesh Buddhist Community living in UK.
To address this issue, a group of people decided to convene a meeting to establish an organisation. In addition, Bangladesh Buddhist Council UK formed in 5th February 2023; the main objective of that organisation was to set up a New Buddhist Bihar for the Bengali Community in the UK. As there was no monk on that time, it was Mammoth task to establish a new Buddhist Bihar
Jetaban Bihar London was found on 1st April 2023. Ven. Shashankirti Phra H Mahipal Mahathero is the 1st Abbot of Jetaban Bihar London. In addition, Bodhiyan Meditation & Cultural Centre UK was registered at Charity Commission on 31/01/2024.
